Cooling down in the Kayaks and Football!

Today was another hot and sunny day here in Calgary! We had three energetic lessons today that centred around emotions and we did some pretty great performances of our favourite English songs exploring different performance styles! After lessons, we headed off for a delicious lunch at SAIT and then loaded up the bus and headed off to Kayaking and American Football. The water cooled us off from the hot summer day and we paddled around the reservoir learning different strokes and exploring the surroundings. We learned how to raft up together and raced each other around the water. We even got to play a game of Zombie tag in the water where you identify humans and zombies by the way they hold their paddle and where zombies race to tag humans by tapping the front of their kayak with a paddle.

After kayaking we headed out to the field to learn to play American football. We learned the correct way to throw a football (and make it spin!) and to properly catch it. We learned about the different positions and practiced our long throws and catches. We then broke off into teams and tried our best to play a real football game and cheered loud when our team got a touchdown!

After football we headed off to a delicious supper at the mall. We were able to do a bit of shopping to prepare for our big camping trip and then came back home to begin our talent show preparation and packing for our 7 day camping adventure in the Canadian Rockies. We can’t wait for tomorrow!
