Stampede Shenanigans – YEEHAW!
Today we woke up bright and early, ready for another exciting day at Wynchemna! After a quick but energizing breakfast of cereal, yogurt, juice, and milk, we were off on our big adventure to the Calgary Stampede! The students were thrilled to hop aboard the LRT (train), and for many, it was a fun new experience in itself.
Upon arrival at the Stampede grounds, we gathered to go over important ground rules, safety tips, and meeting times and locations. With everything clear, we split into our groups and dove headfirst into the Stampede excitement!
The students had a blast exploring the grounds—snacking on classic Stampede treats like lemonade, mini donuts, and all sorts of fun fair food. They played countless games, tested their luck and skills, and many walked away with some very cool prizes and big smiles.
At 1 PM, we regrouped at the BMO Centre to enjoy a hearty lunch of delicious subs with options including beef, chicken, and the house special – everyone found something to satisfy their appetite!
After lunch, we continued our Stampede experience by catching a variety of exciting shows. The high-flying motorcycle stunt show wowed the crowd, the adorable dog show had everyone cheering, and the magic show sparked awe and wonder in both students and leaders alike. It was clear from the laughter and gasps that these performances were a hit!
Later in the afternoon, we rode the LRT back to SAIT and enjoyed a bit of well-earned free time before jumping into our first lesson of the day. The students were focused and productive, showing off their creativity and teamwork. Supper was a delicious feast of cheesy lasagna, fresh salad, and garlic bread – capped off with a refreshing popsicle for dessert!
The evening wrapped up with two more engaging and laughter-filled lessons, and finally, our nightly meeting where we proudly announced our Students of the Day: Justin and Jessica – congratulations!
