Athletics & Aquatics - The Perfect Day
Today was another exciting and action-packed day at Wynchemna! We began our morning with a hearty and nutritious breakfast to fuel us for the day ahead. The students had a variety of delicious options to choose from, including freshly scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, cold milk, assorted cereals, creamy yogurt, and warm toast with butter or jam. It was the perfect way to energize ourselves for a busy day of learning and adventure!
After breakfast, the students dove into their three scheduled lessons. Each class was filled with creativity, collaboration, and laughter as the students explored new topics and engaged in hands-on activities. From fun grammar games to lively discussions and interactive projects, everyone had the chance to express themselves and build their confidence in English. The classrooms buzzed with enthusiasm as our young learners showcased their growing skills.
Following lessons, we gathered our belongings and boarded the bus, spirits high and excitement in the air. On the way to our lunch outing, the students turned the bus ride into a mini concert, singing their favorite songs together and enjoying the lively atmosphere. Our destination was none other than Ikea, where we were treated to a diverse and satisfying lunch. Students had the option of tasting Swedish-inspired dishes such as tender salmon, savory meatballs, or indulgent poutine. These main courses were accompanied by delicious sides like golden fries, creamy mashed potatoes, and steamed vegetables, ensuring everyone found something to enjoy.
After lunch, we headed to the Southland Leisure Centre for an action-packed afternoon of sports and recreation. Students eagerly split into groups and rotated through various games, including squash, badminton, and basketball. The energy was contagious as kids challenged each other in friendly competitions, cheered for their teammates, and showed great sportsmanship throughout. The laughter and cheers echoed in the gym, a testament to how much fun everyone was having.
Before entering the pool area, we gathered for a quick safety talk to review the rules and ensure everyone understood how to stay safe. Once changed, we began with a swim test to assess everyone’s comfort in the water. With all students cleared, it was time to enjoy the much-anticipated swim! Whether gliding through the water, splashing with friends, or playing pool games, every student had a blast. Teachers joined in the fun, and the pool was filled with joy and energy.
After drying off and getting changed, we made our way to the University cafeteria for a delicious Vietnamese-style dinner. The students had the chance to try flavorful dishes like pho, rice noodles, spring rolls, and various stir-fried options. It was a delightful culinary experience that introduced many to new tastes and textures.
The day wasn’t over yet! Back at Sait, we wrapped up with some relaxed but engaging evening activities. The students spread out across different stations, enjoying football matches outside, making friendship bracelets, jamming to music, and more. It was a perfect way to unwind, connect, and reflect on the amazing day we had.
To close the evening, we gathered for our traditional “Student of the Day” recognition. Today’s shining stars were Ian and Richard, who both demonstrated outstanding participation, kindness, and enthusiasm throughout the day. Congratulations to both!
It was truly a wonderful day at Wynchemna — full of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store!
