Smash, Splash, and Swedish Meatballs
Today was packed with energy, laughter, and some serious fun. From sports courts to swimming pools, with a little Scandinavian twist in the middle, it was the kind of day that makes summer camp unforgettable.
We kicked off the morning with a sports circuit that kept everyone on their toes. First up was squash, where campers took turns chasing the ball around the court in fast-paced one-on-one matches. There were some impressive rallies, a few accidental racket taps, and a whole lot of cheering from the sidelines.
Next, we transitioned to badminton. The games were full of light-footed movement and quick reflexes as campers tried their best to keep the birdie off the ground. It was a great way to build teamwork and hand-eye coordination, and there were definitely some future pros in the making.
From there, it was time for basketball. We split into teams and played a couple of short games, filled with layups, steals, and some pretty epic shots from deep. Even those who were new to the game got involved and made big plays. The court was buzzing with excitement and team spirit.
After working up a serious appetite, it was time for a well-earned lunch at IKEA. Yes, you read that right. We hopped on the bus and headed to everyone’s favorite furniture store, not for sofas but for the cafeteria. Meatballs, fries, pasta, and desserts were on everyone’s trays. The campers couldn’t stop talking about the novelty of eating lunch inside a giant store. Some even joked about picking up new pillows for their bunks.
Once we were all fueled up, the adventure continued at the wave pool. Campers dove into the water and were greeted by rolling waves that had everyone jumping, laughing, and riding the current. The slides were also a massive hit. From twisting tunnels to steep drops, the squeals of joy echoed across the pool. Some campers raced each other down, while others took their time and went again and again just for the thrill.
As the sun started to set, we made our way back to camp, but the day wasn’t over yet. After dinner, we gathered for some late-night lessons. With heads still full of the day’s excitement, it was impressive to see how focused everyone remained. Whether it was reviewing vocabulary, practicing conversation, or doing a creative writing activity, campers ended the day strong and proud of what they accomplished.
It was a day full of motion, memories, and a little meatball magic. This is what summer camp is all about.
