Big Smiles & Warm Welcomes at Wynchemna!
Today was a jam-packed and joyful day at Wynchemna, full of delicious food, creativity, and new beginnings!
We started our morning with a nutritious and filling breakfast featuring eggs, crispy bacon, fluffy Eggos, cold milk, refreshing juice, and creamy yogurt — the perfect fuel for a busy day ahead.
After breakfast, we gathered our laundry and headed to the basement, where students chatted and bonded while waiting for their loads to finish.
Then it was time for our first lesson, where students got to express themselves through "All About Me" worksheets and self-portraits! It was a great opportunity for both new and returning students to share their personalities and showcase their creativity — we definitely have some talented young artists in the group!
Next up was lunch, and it did not disappoint! Students had a variety of mouth-watering options: juicy steak with fries, a hearty Monte Cristo sandwich, flavorful shrimp spaghetti, and classic poutine. There was so much laughter and conversation — it was clear everyone was having a blast.
We returned to SAIT to transfer our laundry to the dryers, and once everything was dry, it was time to move into our new rooms! Everyone was excited to get settled and explore their new space.
In the afternoon, we had another lesson, continuing our work on the "All About Me" projects. Students added finishing touches to their portraits, and we were once again amazed by their imagination and artistic flair.
Later, students who had been here the previous week went outside to enjoy some quick and fun 5-minute games, sharing lots of laughter and energy before boarding the bus to go play hockey! Meanwhile, the teachers greeted the new arrivals with smiles and helped them settle in.
During check-in, students received their quarter contracts, rock climbing/kayaking forms, and other essentials like water bottles, T-shirts, hangers, and notebooks. We also took individual photos in front of the big world map, capturing all their beautiful smiles and excitement!
To finish off the day, we headed to dinner, where we enjoyed a healthy spread of salad, fruit, apple juice, chicken, and fries. Afterwards, we hit the field for some more active fun — including an energetic game of dodgeball!
It was truly a wonderful day of bonding, laughter, creativity, and play. We’re so thrilled to welcome our new Wynchemna students and can’t wait for the adventures to come!
