Fashion, Flair, Football, and Farewells!
Today marked our final full day in Calgary before we head off on one of the most exciting parts of our summer together—our Rocky Mountain camping adventure!
The day began with three great English lessons, but there was a creative twist waiting for everyone afterward. Our junior students put their imagination to work by creating incredible fashion outfits made entirely from newspaper. From elegant dresses to stylish hats and even some very unique accessories, the classroom quickly transformed into a runway full of laughter and creativity. Meanwhile, our senior students became journalists for the day as they designed their own Wynchemna newspaper, filling the pages with stories, memories, interviews, and highlights from their amazing time exploring Calgary.
After all that creativity, everyone gathered for lunch just in time for one of the biggest sporting events of the summer—the FIFA World Cup Final! The room was filled with excitement as students cheered on their favourite teams. Our Spanish students had plenty to celebrate as Spain defeated Argentina to lift the World Cup trophy, creating an unforgettable atmosphere full of cheers, smiles, and friendly celebrations.
The excitement continued into the afternoon with one of our favourite Wynchemna traditions: the Talent Show! Students amazed the audience with their confidence, creativity, and incredible performances. Whether singing, dancing, acting, or showing off unique talents, everyone gave it their all. A huge congratulations goes to Shannon, whose outstanding piano performance earned the top prize and a well-deserved standing ovation!
Before the day came to an end, everyone made their final camping preparations. Sleeping bags were packed, backpacks were organized, and excitement for the Rockies was growing by the minute. With Calgary now full of wonderful memories, our students headed to bed ready for the adventures that await us in the mountains.
