Paddling our way to better English!

Our day at Wynchemna was filled with excitement, learning, and memorable moments that everyone will cherish. We kicked off our day with a hearty breakfast that included potato pancakes from the previous evening’s international supper. These crispy, flavorful pancakes were a perfect start, fueling us for the busy day ahead. The smell of warm pancakes mixed with the chatter of students eager to begin their adventures made for a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Students engaged in a variety of enriching activities tailored to their schedules. One lesson explored emotions through interactive exercises that helped them identify and express their feelings more effectively. Some students delved into the topic of migration to Canada, exploring the diverse stories of people who have moved here and fostering greater empathy and cultural understanding. Others learned about medical advancements—discovering how science and technology are continually advancing healthcare and saving lives. The varied schedule allowed everyone to engage in meaningful ways while making the most of their day at Wynchemna.

The afternoon was equally exciting, with students split into two groups to take turns practicing kayaking and baseball skills. The kayaking session was a highlight; students learned essential techniques for paddling and balancing on the water, building both skills and confidence. Meanwhile, the other group practiced baseball fundamentals—throwing, and catching. Watching everyone switch between these activities demonstrated their enthusiasm and willingness to try new things.

Later in the day, everyone gathered at a nearby baseball field to put their newly acquired skills to the test. The friendly game was filled with cheers and encouragement, showcasing teamwork and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see students applying what they’d learned earlier in the day, all while having fun and making new friends.

As evening approached, our group headed to a nearby mall for dinner. We enjoyed a satisfying meal of pasta, pizza, and fresh salad—comfort foods that brought everyone together after an active day. Sharing a meal in a relaxed setting allowed us to unwind and reflect on the day’s experiences.

The night wrapped up with preparations for the talent show. Students practiced their acts eagerly, supporting each other and sharing laughs along the way. It was inspiring to see their confidence grow as they rehearsed, excited to showcase their talents to the group.

Overall, our day at Wynchemna was a perfect blend of learning, physical activity, and community bonding. From breakfast to bedtime, everyone participated wholeheartedly, creating memories that will last long after camp ends. It was a day of growth, friendship, and fun—truly a highlight of the camp experience.
