Strikes, Spares and Smiles at Wynchemna!

The day kicked off at 9 a.m. with a hearty breakfast that set everyone up for the busy day ahead. The students enjoyed a variety of tasty options, fueling up for the many activities planned. After breakfast, they headed into their first two lessons of the day, which provided a great opportunity to learn new skills and deepen their understanding. Under the guidance of our talented teachers Gab, Sarah, Nicole, and Elliot students engaged in interactive lessons that challenged them and sparked their curiosity.

Following a productive morning, the students took a break for lunch. After lunch, the students returned to their lessons, this time with renewed energy. They continued with their learning sessions, working with Gab, Sarah, Nicole, and Elliot to explore new topics and collaborate on projects. The balance between education and recreation kept the day vibrant and engaging, ensuring students stayed motivated and eager to participate.

They participated in a fun and lively bowling session. For some students, it was their very first time trying the sport, which made it all the more exciting. The clatter of pins and cheers of encouragement filled the bowling alley as everyone had a fantastic time competing and cheering each other on. It was wonderful to see students stepping out of their comfort zones and trying something new, all while sharing plenty of laughs.

One of the highlights of the afternoon was our trip to the grocery store. Students, organized into their breakfast groups, set out to shop for ingredients to prepare a meal together. This hands-on experience was not only educational but also fostered teamwork and responsibility. Students practiced their shopping skills, learned about budgeting, and made decisions about what ingredients to buy, all essential life skills. Once back at the accommodation, the groups worked together in the kitchen, preparing a delicious meal that everyone enjoyed together.

After supper everyone had cold treats for dessert—an icy reward after a busy day. The students then relaxed and unwound by playing board games with their roommates. Whether it was a strategic game, or a lively card game, the room was filled with friendly competition and camaraderie. It was heartwarming to see students bonding over shared interests and enjoying each other's company in a relaxed setting.

Reflecting on the day, it was clear that the Wynchemna students experienced a perfect blend of education, recreation, and social connection. They learned new skills, tried new activities, and built stronger friendships, all while having a great time. Days like these are not only enriching but also help foster confidence, independence, and a sense of community among our students.

We look forward to more adventures and memorable days ahead with the Wynchemna group!
