Trading Up: A Day of Adventure at Wynchemna

Another incredible day at Wynchemna has come to an end, and it was one our campers won't soon forget!

We started the day with three engaging ESL lessons, where students built their English skills through interactive activities, discussions, and collaborative learning. Every lesson was filled with opportunities to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a fun and supportive environment.

After enjoying lunch on campus, it was time for one of the most anticipated activities of the week—the Paper Clip Challenge! Armed with nothing more than a single paper clip, each group set out into the community with one goal: trade their way up to something bigger and better. Along the way, students practiced real-world English, developed confidence in speaking with new people, and experienced the generosity of the Calgary community.

The creativity and determination on display were incredible, but one group stood out by trading all the way up to an acoustic guitar—an amazing achievement and today's winning item! Congratulations to our champions, and well done to every group for embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and courage.

The fun didn't stop there. In the evening, campers worked together in small groups to prepare dinner, sharing responsibilities, learning new recipes, and enjoying the rewards of teamwork. Cooking together is always a wonderful way to build friendships while practicing English in everyday situations.

To finish the day, everyone gathered for a relaxed evening of board games, where laughter, friendly competition, and conversation filled the room. It was the perfect way to unwind, connect with new friends, and end another fantastic day at camp.

From the classroom to the community, the kitchen to the game table, today was a wonderful reminder that learning English happens everywhere. We can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow will bring!
