Volleyballs, Victories & Birthday Vibes!

Today kicked off with a cheerful breakfast alongside our new friends—an energizing way to start the day! We filled our plates (and bellies!) with a hearty spread of scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, assorted cereals, creamy yogurt, cold milk, and refreshing orange juice. It was a great chance for everyone to chat, bond, and fuel up for the exciting day ahead.

After breakfast, we gathered together for a quick orientation. We went over the camp rules, walked through how everything works, and made sure everyone knew where things go. It was a fun and helpful way to get everyone on the same page and feel right at home.

Next up: our very first lesson with our new groups! It was a mix of introductions, icebreakers, and early learning. Everyone was eager and engaged—it was awesome to see friendships forming and brains firing up at the same time.

Then came the highlight of the afternoon—we jumped on the bus and headed to the Volleydome for a high-energy volleyball session! We split into three skill groups: beginners, intermediates, and the "pretty good" crew. Each group worked on the fundamentals: serving, bumping, volleying, and teamwork. After some drills and technique building, we hit the courts for some real games. The energy was electric, and the effort was amazing!

With volleyball behind us and appetites growing, we rode over to the University of Calgary (U of C) for a delicious Chinese dinner. The buffet had it all—steaming rice, savory noodles, a tasty mix of meats, and lots of vegetables. Everyone left the table happy and full!

While waiting for the bus back, we played a few games outside, soaking in the fresh air and winding down after a packed afternoon. Once the bus arrived, we headed back to SAIT for our final lesson of the day. Even after such a full schedule, our campers stayed focused and engaged—true champs!

To wrap things up, we held our nightly meeting where we celebrated our Students of the Day—a big round of applause for Hannah and Miguel for their positivity and participation throughout the day! And of course, we ended with a special moment—singing Happy Birthday to one of our amazing Group Leaders, Heidi!

What a day—full of laughter, learning, and lots of high-fives. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
