Bingo Icebreaker, Canoeing, Football, and Ultimate Frisbee
Today was all about welcoming new campers and kicking things off with some fun and connection. We started the morning with a classic icebreaker: camp bingo. Each square on the bingo sheet had something unique like “has been to more than 3 countries,” “can do a cartwheel,” or “has the same birthday month as you.” The goal was to go around and talk to as many people as possible to fill in the squares. It was the perfect excuse to laugh, break the ice, and learn quirky facts about one another.
In the afternoon, we headed outside for some action. First up was canoeing. With life jackets strapped on and paddles in hand, campers paired up and hit the water. Some canoes glided smoothly while others spun in slow circles, but the laughter echoed across the lake either way.
Back on dry land, the pace picked up with a game of football. We started with juke drills, learning how to fake out defenders with quick cuts and footwork. Campers practiced their moves and hyped each other up after every successful juke. Then we jumped into a scrimmage where everyone got to show off their skills and hustle on the field.
We ended the day with a fast-paced round of ultimate frisbee, with long throws, diving catches, and nonstop running. Whether you were tossing a perfect spiral or chasing down a frisbee in the sun, the energy was high and the team spirit even higher.
By the end of the day, friendships were forming, muscles were tired, and the first-time nerves had completely disappeared. It was the kind of day that reminds you camp is more than just games, it’s about the people who make it unforgettable.
