Day 7 at Wynchemna: English, IKEA, and Splash-tastic Fun!
Day 7 at Wynchemna was another busy and unforgettable day filled with learning, laughter, and lots of action! We started the morning like we always do—in our cozy breakfast rooms, enjoying a chatty meal with our floormates and getting energized for the day ahead. A good breakfast is always important, especially on a day like this!
Once breakfast was done, we dove into our two English lessons. The classes today were super interactive—some of us played conversation games, others worked on small group projects, and many of us had the chance to get creative through drawing, storytelling, and acting. One highlight was a game where we had to guess secret words based on dramatic clues. Everyone had lots of laughs and got to practice speaking English in a fun and relaxed way.
After all that thinking, it was time to refuel. On the bus ride to lunch we practiced secret handshakes with our seat partner. We had lunch at a classic Canadian favorite—IKEA! The food was super yummy—Swedish meatballs were definitely the most popular choice, but there were also fries to keep us going.
Next up, we visited Southland Leisure Centre, but not for the pool just yet. First, we hit the courts and tried out a bunch of different sports. Some of us played badminton and squash for the first time—turns out it’s harder than it looks! Others played basketball or tried racquetball, which had everyone running around and working up a sweat. It was awesome to try so many new games and stay active with friends.
After sports, we finally made our way to the wave pool and water slides and it was so worth the wait! The wave pool made us feel like we were at the beach, and we couldn’t stop laughing as we floated over the waves. The water slides were a huge hit, and the hot tub was perfect for relaxing after a full afternoon. It was definitely one of the best activities of the week so far.
To end the day, we stopped at America’s favourite diner Denny’s for dinner. It was great to sit down and enjoy a warm meal together after such a busy day. Pancakes, chicken burgers, skillets—everyone found something delicious. We shared stories from the day and even talked about some of our favorite memories from the past week.
Now that we're back at the residence, we finished our final English lesson. We can all agree Day 7 was a blast—from English class to IKEA, from squash to swimming. The week’s flying by, but every day brings something new, and we’re loving every second of it. Can’t wait to see what Day 8 has in store!
