Day One: ESL Workshop, Bingo, and Casino Night!
June 17th, 2026: Day I of the Teacher Orientation — 2026!
Diving Right In!
If Day One is any indication of how this summer is going to go, we are all in for an incredible ride. The 2026 Wynchemna teaching team wasted no time getting into the swing of things, packing the day with everything from professional development to passport-worthy fun. Will, Maddy, Cam, Kosta, Jordan, Cally, and Tarisha showed up ready, and Day One delivered.
The morning kicked off with a deep dive into the Teacher Handbook alongside our ESL Workshop in the afternoon. The ESL workshop with Adam as the mentor for our new teachers went into the inner workings of how to succeed in the classroom, and it might sound like a lot to take in on day one, but honestly? It flew by. From curriculum frameworks and lesson planning strategies to the nuts and bolts of running an immersive English-language classroom, the team came away feeling prepared, energized, and full of ideas. There's nothing quite like getting everyone on the same page before the campers arrive.
After all that learning, it was time to play. We broke out the classic Wynchemna Bingo, and true to form, the room was quickly filled with laughter, competitive energy, and more than a few surprising revelations about your fellow teachers. Who knew this group had so many hidden talents and wild travel stories?
Then came our first lunch in SAIT’s world-renowned cafeteria! Many delicious dishes were had, such as steak sandwiches and beef short ribs with fried rice, along with many more. We’re so excited for the campers to arrive to share the great food!
And then came Casino Night: the evening brought out everyone's inner high roller as the team gathered for a night of friendly competition, big bluffs, and even bigger laughs. It was the perfect way to wrap up a full day, letting loose, bonding, and discovering who among us has the best poker face (we're not naming names).
Day One is in the books, and the 2026 team is already feeling like a family. Check back soon for more updates from the orientation!
