Teacher Orientation Day 2 Extravanganza!

Greetings, Wynchemna families! Our teacher orientation is in full swing, blending cultural immersion, professional development, and team building to ensure your children have an unforgettable, high-energy summer. Here is a look inside our action-packed second day:

Hockey, Exams, and Exquisite Eats

We started the morning by diving into a classic Canadian sport: Hockey! Led by Roland, the teaching team learned the fundamentals and played a few friendly frames.

From the rink, we shifted gears to a French language assessment testing our speaking, reading, and writing skills. It was a humbling reminder that many of us need a quick refresher! Experiencing a language test firsthand is a wonderful way for our teachers to re-empathize with the journey our English language learners take. Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by the talented culinary students at SAIT.

Creative Classrooms & Team Logos

The afternoon focused on professional development. Each teacher facilitated a draft English lesson, showcasing the interactive, game-centered activities we will use this summer. We received invaluable feedback and coaching from Adam to ensure our pedagogy is sharp and engaging!

During a quick lesson break, we even stepped into the kitchen to bake a fresh strawberry rhubarb crumble pie! Creativity kept rolling as we designed our staff T-shirt logos: the girls created a powerful Grizzly Bear design, while the boys designed a spirited Moose logo, complete with a catchy theme song, "Moose with no Name."

Pizza and Tent Games!

To wrap up a productive day, we enjoyed a pizza dinner and met Mikela, a wonderful Wynchemna alumni who shared inspiring stories from past summers. We closed out the night with our legendary Tent Games! The evening was packed with wacky challenges, highlighted by a fierce game of Tug-of-War. After a lot of laughs, the girls' team took home the official trophy!

We are building an incredible bond as a staff and cannot wait to welcome your children very soon!
