Exploring Calgary, One Conversation at a Time: The great Canadian Race

Today at Wynchemna was one of our most exciting adventures yet: The Great Canadian Race!

We started the day with a delicious breakfast before heading off to our daily English lessons. Between Lessons 2 and 3, we took a special break to watch the thrilling Spain vs. Belgium World Cup match together. It was so much fun cheering for the home countries of many of our students and sharing in the excitement of the game. Congratulations to Spain on their hard-fought and exciting 2–1 victory!

After our third lesson, it was time for the main event: The Great Canadian Race!

Students teamed up with their teachers and set off across the city of Calgary with one major challenge: no maps and no phones allowed! Instead, they had to use the English skills they have been developing at Wynchemna to ask locals for directions, navigate from landmark to landmark, and strike up conversations with Calgarians to learn more about Canadian life and culture.

Every team worked incredibly hard to meet new people, complete their challenges, and race toward the finish line. Along the way, students showed impressive teamwork, confidence, and communication skills while creating unforgettable memories throughout the city.

To celebrate an amazing day, we finished with some of the best Indian food Calgary has to offer. The food was such a hit that students were lining up for thirds!

The Great Canadian Race was packed with adventure, laughter, and learning, and it will surely go down as one of the greatest days of the summer!
