Paddles and Passes
Another unforgettable day at Wynchemna ESL Camp began bright and early as students climbed aboard the bus for a morning kayaking adventure! The calm water, fresh air, and beautiful scenery made for the perfect start to the day. Whether students were experienced paddlers or trying kayaking for the very first time, everyone quickly found their rhythm. There were plenty of laughs, lots of teamwork, and only a few splash-filled moments to keep things exciting!
After a busy morning on the water, everyone was ready to refuel with a delicious lunch in the SAIT cafeteria. With full stomachs and even fuller conversations, students relaxed together before heading off to another afternoon of learning.
Our English lessons were packed with creativity and teamwork! Students discovered some of Canada's most popular holidays and traditions, put their detective skills to the test by solving an exciting mystery, and let their imaginations run wild as they created their own "Battle of the Bands". From mysterious clues to hilarious band names and creative performances, the classrooms were buzzing with energy all afternoon.
After a quick snack break, it was time to get moving again with volleyball! Students learned the basic skills of serving, passing, and setting before jumping into friendly games. Every rally brought cheers from teammates, spectacular saves, and plenty of opportunities to encourage one another as skills improved throughout the afternoon.
The fun didn't stop there! We headed over to the University of Calgary for dinner before taking a relaxing walk around the beautiful campus. It was the perfect chance to enjoy the evening together and soak in another part of our amazing city.
Back at SAIT, it was finally laundry time! Students loaded up the washing machines before squeezing in one final English lesson while their clothes got sparkling clean. Once class wrapped up, everyone transferred their laundry to the dryers—but little did they know, the biggest surprise of the day was still waiting.
Teachers gathered everyone together to announce this year's Wynchemna Talent Show! The room instantly filled with excitement as students began brainstorming songs, dances, comedy acts, magic tricks, and performances of every kind. New groups formed, ideas flew across the room, and practice began almost immediately. The energy was contagious as students encouraged one another, laughed together, and discovered talents they never knew their friends had.
With laundry folded, ideas flowing, and excitement building for the big performance, students headed off to bed ready for another incredible day of adventures at Wynchemna. We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
