From Stampede Breakfasts to Splash Zones: A Day of Non-Stop Fun!
What a phenomenal, action-packed day we had at our ESL Summer Camp! From cultural traditions to high-speed displays and high-energy sports, our students fully immersed themselves in English and Calgary culture today. We kicked off the morning like true Calgarians by attending a traditional Calgary Stampede Breakfast, where the students practiced their conversational English while interacting with friendly locals and enjoying a delicious Canadian breakfast. Right after filling up on pancakes, we had the chance to look at an incredible display of exotic supercars brought out by local residents. The students loved checking out the sleek vehicles and chatting about their favorite models, which provided a fantastic spark for some impromptu vocabulary building.
Before noon, it was time to hit the classroom for our morning English lessons. The sessions were highly engaging and focused on interactive group activities that kept energy levels high and confidence soaring. For lunch, we took a fun trip to IKEA, where the students got to experience a global favorite by eating the famous Swedish meatballs and plenty of other great food. It was a wonderful, relaxed environment for everyone to unwind and chat about their day so far.
The afternoon was all about movement and high energy as we headed to a nearby community recreation center. The students got to choose their own adventures, leading to intense rallies on the badminton and squash courts, friendly games of basketball, and tons of laughter. To cool off, we hit the facility's massive aquatic center, where the students had an absolute blast riding the waves in the wave pool, zooming down water slides at the waterpark, and relaxing in the hot tub.
After working up a massive appetite at the pool, we wrapped up our external adventures with a classic dinner at Denny's, enjoying some great comfort food and sharing our favorite highlights from the day. We returned to campus for a couple of final evening English lessons to wrap things up. Despite a long, active day, the students showed incredible focus, reviewing the new vocabulary they learned throughout their excursions and winding down with some cooperative language games. We are so proud of how enthusiastically the students stepped out of their comfort zones today, and we look forward to another wonderful day tomorrow.
