The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!

What an unforgettable day our campers had at the Calgary Stampede! From exciting live performances to delicious food and making new friends, it was a day full of adventure and memorable experiences.

We started the morning by heading to the Calgary Stampede, where students got to experience one of Canada’s most iconic summer events. There was so much to explore, from impressive exhibits to exciting entertainment around every corner.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was watching the incredible freestyle motocross show. The riders amazed everyone with their high-flying jumps, flips, and daring tricks, leaving our campers cheering throughout the performance. We also watched talented sheepdogs expertly herd sheep through an obstacle course, giving everyone a chance to see a unique part of Alberta’s ranching traditions.

Of course, no trip to the Stampede would be complete without trying some great food! For lunch, many students enjoyed fresh and delicious bánh mì sandwiches before spending the afternoon exploring the many food stalls. Campers were excited to sample a variety of unique snacks and refreshing drinks, sharing their favourites and encouraging each other to try something new.

Many students also took the opportunity to embrace the western spirit by shopping for authentic cowboy hats and boots. It was wonderful to see everyone proudly showing off their new purchases while taking photos around the Stampede grounds.

After returning to camp, we enjoyed a comforting dinner of homemade lasagna, Caesar salad, and warm garlic bread—a perfect way to relax after such an action-packed day.

To finish the evening, everyone came together for a fun game of bingo designed to help campers get to know one another. As students chatted, laughed, and learned each other’s names, new friendships quickly began to form, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone joining the camp.

It was a fantastic day filled with adventure, culture, great food, and new connections. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!
